Austin Monthly

Photobucket

Last week, an old friend from my time at Rolling Stone, Damian DeMartino, contacted me out of the blue for a pretty horrific illustration. Austin Monthly's new issue is all about ridiculous true stories, and mine centered around a collapsed lung being fixed via acid with no anesthesia. In the end it turned out pretty well, but for a while it was difficult to walk the line between making the image graphic/visceral enough to convey the story/entertain me, but not so disgusting that they wouldn't print it/think bad things about me. Thankfully, Orin Brecht, my wonderful Associate Art Director, helped me sort that little conundrum out.

Thanks Again to the Art Directors Club

Hello again, internet it's been a while, but I 'm back. First of all I just wanted to thank everyone who came to see my pecha-kucha style slideshow presentation as a part of the Art Directors Club FIve+Five event last week plus show my gratitude to all of the other incredible artists who participated. And secondly to encourage everyone to check back here in the coming month for all new illustration work on an all new website.

Bodega Still Life

One of the great things about living in Brooklyn is undoubtedly the amazing variety of late night foods. On almost every street bodegas and corner stores pump out ridiculously cheap eats 24 hours a day, fueling the drinkers and insomniac illustrators alike. The little drawing below is my tribute to the terrible lifestyle these grease filled havens lead us too.

For anyone interested, the sandwich pictured is the "The Bomber" a pastrami filled wonder available at M&S Mini Mart located at 711 Manhattan Avenue for $4.50

Studio Shots

Hey guys and gals, I just wanted to post some pictures of my studio and show off my ridiculously great new computer. The screen is about 3 times the size of my old one, plus this thing is so fast I can run the entire adobe creative suite simultaneously. No more slow loading of files, no more five minutes to save an image, no more freezing. Basically its awesome, and it is allowing me to get more work done faster, so come back soon for a bountiful bevy of new images.
