PLANADVISER Magazine

Late last week I was fortunate enough to be contacted by the wonderful SooJin Buzelli to do the Road Test section illustration for PLANADVISER magazine. Basically it was a great excuse to research motorcycles, and during the course of a few revisions try to work on inhabiting my drawings with more interesting characters.

The initial sketch, seen below, wasn't quite exciting enough.

So I tried to up the ante by pushing the color somewhere a little more interesting.

And here is the final, I hope you like it.

Texas Bound Magazine

Earlier this week I again had the pleasure of working with Rachel Wyatt on a job for Texas Bound Magazine featuring the ten best Texas songs. Rachel gave me the nerve wracking decision of picking five songs from their list to base five 2x3 spots on. "Do I want T-Bone Walker or Bobby Fuller, Willie Nelson or Archie Bell, Janis Joplin or Buddy Holly?" The choice was literally keeping me up at night, but one thing I was certain of is that Buddy Holly rocks and Janis Joplin is too hard to draw.

The sketch.
The ink.

The final. To see the other spots, including the Sir Douglas Quintet and Willie Nelson check out the main page of my new site at www.aschmidtstudio.com.
